2000 AD is a highly sought after weekly British science fiction-oriented comic magazine. As a comics anthology it serialises stories in each issue (known as "progs") and was first published by IPC Magazines in 1977, the first issue dated 26 February 1977. It is one of the few surviving comics that still thrives today with a huge fan base and the comics have become very collectable for their dramatic artwork and imaginative plot lines.
2000 AD is most noted for its Judge Dredd stories, and has been contributed to by a number of award winning artists and writers who became renowned in the field internationally. Many of the comics classic characters in 2000 AD have now appeared in films or TV programmes including Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog, Slaine, Robo-cop and the ABC Warriors."
